Premium composite deck tiles on a luxury high-rise balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico

Our Story

Built on
7 Years.

Skydeck was born on a balcony in St. Petersburg — and every decision since has been made from that same vantage point.

How It Started

A Problem No One Had Solved

In 2017, our late mentor. The great Tommy Lamb stood on a outdated balcony on the 16th floor of a St. Petersburg high-rise and asked a simple question: why does every luxury condo in this city have the same cold, unfinished floor underfoot?

The answer wasn't a lack of desire. Residents wanted beautiful outdoor spaces. The problem was the method. Every solution on the market required drilling into the building, applying adhesives, or both — triggering HOA rejections, voiding warranties, and creating permanent changes to units that residents didn't own outright.

We spent year developing a different approach: a modular interlocking mat system installed entirely with proprietary specialized tooling. No drilling. No adhesives. No attachment to the building of any kind. The first installation went in during the summer of 2018. It's still there today just as we left it.

What We Stand For

Our Principles

Integrity of the Building

We will never compromise a building's structure, warranty, or HOA standing. If our system can't be installed without penetrating the building, we won't install it.

Honesty About the Product

Composite is not real wood. We don't pretend otherwise. What it is: maintenance-free, fade-resistant, hurricane-tested, and beautiful for decades. We let the product speak for itself.

Respect for the Resident

High-rise living comes with constraints. We design around them — not against them. Every installation is tailored to the specific unit, building, and HOA requirements.

Florida-First Engineering

We don't sell a generic product. Our modular interlocking mats are engineered specifically for Florida's Gulf Coast climate — salt air, UV intensity, and hurricane-force wind loads that most deck products were never designed to handle.
